Chairman Cleaver’s Statement Congratulating Rep. Karen Bass on Her Appointment as Ranking Member on the Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Africa Global Health and Human Rights

Washington, DC – Today, Chairman Emanuel Cleaver, II released the following statement congratulating Rep. Karen Bass on her appointment as Ranking Member on the Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Africa Global Health and Human Rights:

On behalf of the 42 Members of the Congressional Black Caucus, I want to congratulate Congresswoman Karen Bass (CA-33) on her appointment as the Ranking Member on the Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health and Human Rights. While we are still mourning the loss of Congressman Donald Payne, we are honored that one of our members has taken up his mantle. I have complete confidence in Congresswoman Bass and her ability to lead the Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health and Human Rights. I believe that she will continue to provide the strong leadership that this subcommittee has received through Congressman Payne.
