New Video Documents Unsubstantiated Claims and “Blind Alleys” During Investigation of Fast and Furious
Washington, DC (June 26, 2012)—A new released today called “Blind Alleys” details how the investigation of gunwalking under Operation Fast and Furious being conducted by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform has been based on a series of unfounded claims and unsubstantiated allegations that turned out to be inaccurate after investigation.
In January 2012, Rep. Elijah E. Cummings, the Committee’s Ranking Member, issued a comprehensive, 95-page report documenting how Operation Fast and Furious in fact was the fourth in a series of operations run by the Phoenix field office of ATF over the course of five years starting in 2006 during the previous administration.
