CBC Chairman Emanuel Cleaver Welcomes Incoming Members of the
Congressional Black Caucus
WASHINGTON, DC - Congressional Black Caucus Chairman Emanuel Cleaver, II (MO-05) released the following statement welcoming incoming Members of the Congressional Black Caucus:
“The American people have spoken. Congratulations to President Barack Obama, who will serve four more years in the White House.
“I would also like to congratulate Donald Payne Jr. (NJ-10), who will join the Congressional Black Caucus for the remainder of the 112th Congress and during the 113th Congress.
“Also, the CBC will welcome Marc Veasey (TX-33), Hakeem Jefferies (NY-08), Steven Horsford (NV-04), and Joyce Beatty (OH-03). I am confident these individuals will make distinctive contributions to the CBC and that they will each serve their constituents well as Members of the House of Representatives.
“As we welcome our incoming Members, the Congressional Black Caucus remains committed to its role as the “conscience of the Congress”. We are also committed and look forward to working with our colleagues to ensure America renews and delivers its promise of equity and equality of opportunity for all.”
